Ancient Philosophers:
Plato, Socrates, and Aristotle all had a goal of creating a virtuous and morally good person through education. Educators can look back on what the ancient philosophers were aware of long ago and be thankful that they were providing a foundation for what educators do today. Plato saw that educating every child benefited all of society. Socrates and Aristotle realized that teaching and provoking memorization was not the only means to education and that questioning and reasoning was a better way to produce an adult who can problem solve and think critically. The contributions are immeasurable because Aristotle may not have been who he was without Plato and many of their students may not have made contributions without the education provided by those before them.
